Alarming News, But So Important To Know About!

We’re all familiar with the difficulties facing our country and fellow Americans due to the current economic downturn.  But did you know that according to a recent survey, one in four Americans say that at least one member of their family has lost health insurance coverage in the last year?  Those were the findings of a Zogby Interactive poll that I read recently.

Clearly the recession is affecting everyone – not just those who are young or who have low incomes.  The survey found that 19% of families whose incomes topped $100,000 a year had a member who lost their health insurance coverage and 18% of people 65 or older had the same experience.  And even for those with health insurance coverage, having the ability to pay for the medical care they need is becoming more difficult.

The survey reported that 28% of respondents said that they or a member of their immediate family had, at some point in the last 12 months, been unable to get the treatment they needed.  The reasons were consistent: 67% said they could not afford the treatment, 58% said they did not have health insurance at their time of medical need, and 48% said that their health insurance would not cover the prescribed treatment.

In many cases, when you lose your job, you have the ability to remain on the group health plan through the Federal Government’s COBRA provisions, which have been enhanced during these difficult economic times.  And many states have enacted similar laws as well.  If you’re not eligible for COBRA or state continuation, it pays to look at individual coverage options.  Even a high-deductible or limited coverage plan is better than no coverage at all.

Health care reform may be on the way, with the House of Representative passing their version of a health insurance reform bill this past weekend.  I’d love to hear your thoughts about the proposal!

Is this the key to happiness?

Aristotle once wrote that “happiness is the highest good” because it’s the only thing that we don’t pursue for the sake of something else.  Think about it.  Why do we work hard?  We may love our work, but for most people, work is about making money.  And having money is about being secure, and being able to do what you want.  And being secure and being able to do what you want is about being happy.  See how this goes?

The Gallup organization recently released a study that found the happiest people in any occupation were business owners.  That’s no surprise to me – the happiest clients I work with are the ones who put in the long hours, who love what they do, and who have chosen their own path in life.  They are business owners, even if the business is consulting, or IT, or even a professional one, like a medical or dental practice.
When you’re in charge, you always have a superior relationship with your boss!  And if you don’t like the work environment, you’re the one with the authority to change things around.  Don’t like the direction the business is going?  Choose a new direction.

Now, I know how hard it is running a business these days – I’m a business owner, too.  The business environment is always tough, and sometimes the government and the economy can make life as a business owner even harder.  But I also know that there’s a sense of real satisfaction that comes from making your business a success, and that’s impossible to find when you’re working for someone else.

When I was just staring out, my mentor gave me this advice:  “when you love what you do, you’ll never work another day in your life.”  I love what I do – I get to help you to protect what’s most important in your life may it be an ability to earn, the security of your family or your retirement income.   So, to all of you who’ve placed your trust in BeamaLife, I want to say “thank you” and “here’s to happiness!”

Internet Comparison Shopping for Insurance

Life insurance is very necessary and for that reason, most people carefully consider which carrier to choose when purchasing. Purchasing at insurance company offices, insurance brokers, or directly through the internet are options to think about when shopping for a policy.

Finding the most appropriate coverage at the best rate requires a significant amount of research. Insurance companies hire many sales representatives to assist potential customers, contacting one of these people personally, by telephone or by e-mail can be very useful and informative when making this important purchase. One should always, however, make certain that the insurance company or broker is licensed by the state before completing a purchase.

The internet is the ultimate way to research for all the information you may need.

Life Insurance Agent Licensed in Wyoming

It’s official.  I’m now a licensed life insurance agent in Wyoming.  I believe that makes 9 or 10 states total.  I do the majority of my life insurance and annuity business in California, but have also done several deals in Arkansas, Georgia, Arizona, and Colorado.  I had a client call me from Colorado looking to purchase life insurance on her mother in Parkman, WY, which I understand is near Sheridan, WY.  This is why I had to get my non resident license in Wyoming.

Parkman itself is a tiny town in the hills, so it will be interesting to see how far the medical examiner has to travel to get to the proposed insured’s house.  I wonder if the closest examiner might live in Billings, MT.  Please note that even if you live in a state where I am not licensed, I can help you with your life insurance needs.  What I do is take the application over the phone and mail it to you.  While it’s in transit, I get a non resident license.  By the time you receive the application, review it to make sure nothing has changed, and sign and date, I’m already licensed in your state.

This was an interesting case.  My client in Parkman, Wy, is a 69 year old female.  She had a pulmonary embolism in her lung about 10 years ago for which she received anti-coagulating injections and cumadin.  No problems since.  She also takes medication for obsessive compulsive disorder.  I called around to several underwriters and everyone said she could be considered for standard non tobacco.

I loved dealing with the daughter in Denver, Co.  She will be paying the life insurance premiums.  She got a quote from a local agent, who quoted her $3700 annually through Allianz for an adjustable premium universal life insurance policy.  Allianz is wonderful and I’ve sold several annuities through them, but they don’t always have the lowest universal life pricing on the market.  In this particular case, my client was not interested in building up any cash value.  I was able to quote her $238 monthly (works out to $2856 annually) and save her 23% off of the Allianz quote.  It’s through Aviva, their Advantage Builder Series II product, which is a no frills, guaranteed universal life contract with a no lapse guarantee.

An Overview Of The Major Life Insurance Companies

Life insurance companies are amongst the most profitable of all modern businesses. The life insurance industry is also very economically stable. They number amongst the most influential corporations in the world. This is why the larger life insurance agencies are able to offer such low prices and offer their customers such large cash payouts.

Some of the more widely recognized life insurance agencies are MetLife, Transamerica Occidental Insurance Company, and AIG. All of these companies offer their clients both term life insurance policies and whole life insurance policies. Most other companies offer one or the other of those types of policies, or both.

An Auto Insurance Quote- Why It’s Required

In one way it is a must to have auto insurance for a person who drives and, in another way it is a Right. It is not a trivial thing to get an auto insurance in the market. Most of the insurance companies have a set of forms to be filled in their website. The quote seekers need to give all the particulars about them and about their vehicle to get a quote.

All the time the quotes are not precise to the point that the person is able to come to a conclusion on arriving at his choice of auto insurance. What makes this job that difficult? May be the fact that insurance company is not at its best as it could not provide you with a quote which you need.

It would feel good to have somebody bail us out financially, while we continue to recoup from the physical and emotional trauma. Auto insurance plans do exactly that. They cover such probable expenses, and let the accident victim be free from financial worries.

Getting Life Insurance with Medical Conditions

Finding life insurance with a preexisting condition may seem like an impossible task. Preexisting medical issues make you a high risk to the insurer, and thus affect your insurability as an applicant. Indeed, you may have already been told that you are uninsurable as a result of your condition. However, even with medical issues, it is still possible to get life insurance as long as you take the right steps and research your options.

Find an agent with experience. To get coverage with a preexisting condition, you will need the help of a life insurance agent with experience with high-risk life insurance, also called impaired-risk coverage. Your agent will help present you in the best light possible to prospective insurers to convince them to provide coverage. Put together the documentation. Before you apply for a policy, gather all of the documents relevant to your medical issue. Full Post…
