Is Home Sweet Home for Visitors Insurance Purchase?

It’s all settled. Your parents’ trip to the U.S. is confirmed, and the only thing remaining is purchasing visitors health insurance. When your parents booked the tickets from their country, the travel agent offered them visitors insurance for a low sum. Isn’t that the best option to go with? After all, how likely is it that your parents will fall sick?

This is the question in the minds of many a child whose parents come to visit them in the U.S. First things first, when purchasing insurance—be it short term health insurance or long term health insurance, you must think about the worst case scenario. In this case, it is that the parents do fall sick. If they

Millions of young adults have health insurance because of Obamacare

The Department of Health and Human Services announced Sept. 20 that roughly a million more young people between the ages of 19 and 25 have health insurance coverage in the first quarter of 2011 than did in the first quarter of 2010. The National Center for Health Statistics also said the percentage of young people covered has gone up from 66.1 percent to 69.6 percent.

The increase, according to the Department of Health and Human Services, is due to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), implemented in September 2010, that allows children to remain on their parents’ health insurance policies until age 26. The act is a provision under President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, commonly called Obamacare, that was approved last year.

HHS Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health Policy Richard Kronick said because of recent survey results and the sheer number of young people now covered, he feels it’s the ACA that is causing the upswing.

“We feel quite confident in attributing virtually all of this change to provisions in the ACA,” he said. “St

Caravan manufacturer launches exciting new models

Leading manufacturer Elddis Caravans has unveiled a radical development in construction methods. This is because all 2012 models, the manufacturer said, will be fitted with a unique GPR underskin.According to Elddis, there are a number of reasons why the GPR underskin is superior to traditional plywood, which is commonly used in the caravan manufacturing sector. The manufacturer observed, for example, that one piece of GPR acts as a great barrier to water splashing against the underside of a tourer.Meanwhile, Safeguard said recently that caravans represent an investment for holiday lovers, which means that consumers should not rush into a purchase.Instead, the firm advised Brits to take time to compare the models available on the market before signing anything.Rita Saddler, manager at Safeguard, said: “Buying a caravan for the first time is a very exciting prospect but it is important that buyers dont get carried away and go for the first one they see.”

Petplan launches the UKs largest ever pet census

Petplan is launching the UK’s largest ever pet census, the Petplan Pet Census 2011.

Currently there are over 24 million pets in the UK, which is double the number of pensioners (based on an estimated 12 million people over 65 years of age). The Petplan Pet Census collected information from over 10,000 pet-owners asking them about a number of topics including diet, social relations and the cost of living.

The research, regarding pets and their owners, can be split into four themes which are Compassion and Relationships, Diet and Wellbeing, Purchasing and Social Behaviour. Each theme takes a detailed look into the way pets affect each part of our life.

Alison Andrew, Petplan’s Head of Marketing, said: “The Petplan Pet Census demonstrates that pets play an enormous role in their owners’ lives. In many cases they can have the same impact on an owner as a human influence. Full Post…

66 of your car insurance premium goes straight to whiplash victims

Insurance companies want the government to crack down on solicitors who are one of the driving forces behind a 2 billion industry claiming compensation for whiplash injuries following motor accidents.

Britain has become the whiplash capital of Europe, with an average 1,200 claims a day.

Whiplash accounts for 75% of the UK’s motor insurance claims – the average for the rest of Europe is 40%.

Solicitors pick up 88p for every 1 their clients receive and the insurance companies feel the government should peg their fees to keep car insurance premiums down.

Besides the insurance cost, treating whiplash also costs the NHS 8 million a year.

Whiplash is neck pain caused after stretching soft tissue in the following a forceful jerk. Whi

How Dentists Protect Themselves

Did you ever wonder what would happen if a dentist pulled the wrong tooth or chipped one of your teeth while working on them? This is something that doesn’t happen all the time but it is something that has happened many times before. What you need to understand is that a dentist is human just like the rest of us and they are entitled to make some mistakes as well.

The first thing that you need to understand is that as a dentist you need to protect yourself and the best way to do that is with professional liability insurance. The nice thing about getting professional liability insurance is that you will be on the hook as for as responsibility but not as far as the legal costs associated with a dental lawsuit. What most people don’t understand is that a dentist can be sued if they are not doing what they are supposed to be doing and causing physical or mental damage to their patient. Trust me, as a dentist it is hard to do everything right especially when patients are looking at all that you do wrong.

If you want to cover your dental practise then you should do that but don’t make the mistake and get some liability insurance that will not even work for you. For a lot of people they are just wanting to get some protection that they will buy whatever anybody is selling them but that is not the best way to go. What you need to do is look around and see what other insurance companies are offering so that you can get the best insurance policy around. Trust me, a little bit of work and time searching for the right liability policy is well worth it. I know you may not think so buy just wait a few months and then see how you feel about it then.
